(For context, this game is about Drum Corps, which is basically just extreme marching band)
Alright! Ladies and Gentlemen, we are back again for another update on my plans for the board game. So, we have established that there will be a board that follows the 2020 Drum Corps International summer tour (that will never happen because it got cancelled), and as players land on different colored spaces, they must draw a card with the corresponding color to determine their next move. As I was explaining this game concept to a friend, he asked me what the game pieces would be for the players, and I thought to myself, “Wow, I haven’t even thought about that yet…”
That brings me to the topic of this post: the game pieces. My plan is to buy some polymer clay and build some iconic drum corps items to use as pawns (I believe that is the correct term). Here are just a few of the items that I have picked out: Other options include, but are not limited to, spray sunscreen, liquid sunscreen, a fanny pack, a baseball cap, etc. I want to have around 8 different options so that large groups can play if they wanted, and so small groups have a wide range of pawns to choose from. I think the fun pawns will be another way to help players enjoy the game…I already plan on making the cards funny and relevant, but these will definitely take the game a step farther.
