Tools
Like you, I spend a lot of time in front of my computer (in my case, its a well-traveled Macbook Pro). Here are some of my favorite tools for working on a Mac.
Audacity, a free cross-platform audio editor.
Zengobi’s Curio is an inspiring, versatile space for thinking. It’s integrated with Evernote, so anything in your Evernote notebook can easily be dropped into a Curio design space.
Evernote, the free online cross-platform memory bank.
Marco Arment’s Instapaper is a browser-based tool for liberating, reshaping, and cataloging content for a much improved reading experience. Try it.
MarsEdit 3 is still a great way to get things into WordPress.
Notational Velocity Alt is Brett Terpstra’s terrific fork of the already-terrific Notational Velocity. A great tool for note-taking, NV Alt handles MultiMarkdown and more.
Tags, made by Case Apps, is a terrific OpenMeta-compliant tagging application. Tags are metadata that are attached to files and folders in order to make retrieval easier. Other OpenMeta compliant software is available, of course.
Papers, a handsome (if imperfect and occasionally maddening) PDF database.
Literature and Latte’s Scrivener, a comprehensive word processor.
TextMate, a coder’s dream editor.
Transmit, Panic’s great little FTP app.
